چکیده
This investigation was to evaluate the applicability and prediction accuracy of pedotransfer function (PTF) estimate water retention curves Ap horizon soils for five soil series which cannot be directly used cultivate upland crops other than rice because their high salinity. Soil (SWRCs) were obtained from 150 undisturbed samples collected horizons textures grouped into sandy loam with contents sand (>60%) low clay (<10%) silt relatively content (<10%). Soil-water characteristics between 0 −50 kPa −1500 measured using sandbox, kaolin-plate, pressure chamber methods, respectively. The SWRCs also estimated by Rawls Brakensiek PTF (RB-PTF). compared against those RB-PTF. modeled data closely fit although saturated volume (θs) residual (θr) RB-PTF higher mean both textures. air entry point (α) steepness water-retention curve (n) in loam. SWRCS yielded best all series, whereas MBE values less zero indicate that θv at potentials is under-predicted. r2 greater 0.9 represent are suitable predicting RTFS points do not vary around regression line.

Multiscale Pedotransfer Functions for Soil Water Retention
Soil hydraulic properties are needed in globaland regionalscale circulation models for hydrologic and climate forecasting. They are also necessary in pointand nonpoint-source contaminant transport models. Prediction accuracy of these models is highly dependent on the quality of the model parameters. Collecting the required soil hydraulic parameters by direct measurement at any model grid scale ...

soil hydraulic properties such as soil water characteristic curve are necessary prerequisite for modeling water movement and solute transport. direct methods of estimating these hydraulic properties are time consuming and costly. indirect methods, such as pedotransfer functions, estimate the hydraulic parameters using easy-to-measure soil properties like particle size distributions, bulk densit...
متن کاملField-Scale Water Flow Simulations Using Ensembles of Pedotransfer Functions for Soil Water Retention
Using pedotransfer functions (PTF) to estimate soil hydraulic properties may be necessary in soil water flow simulations for large-scale projects or in pilot studies. The accuracy of a PTF outside of its development dataset is generally unknown. The existence of multiple models that are developed and tested in one region, but may perform relatively poorly in other regions, is also common in met...
